To gain some insights and expand on the prior research, I interviewed variety of people coming from different backgrounds and interests.
As I was taking over this project mid point, I could simultaneously conduct user research while doing user testing on the previous version, which gave me the opportunity to list what could be improved and what needed extra perspectives.
Major questions and learnings
What do people learn and how do they learn?
Majority of people, regardless their age or work occupations was learning a variety of things for reasons of their own in different levels and goals, even if it's something trivial. Learning is in human nature.
Most common problem people faced when learning was the lack of community, regardless their level. Not being able to reach the more experienced or communicate with other like minded people were considered as one of the biggest struggles for a lot.
Common constraints when people learn different topics
I talked with people from different backgrounds in all ages about their learning life.

When people start learning something new, the most common problem they had was not having a community or like minded people that they can ask questions and interact with.
In educational setting, people prefer having flexibility thus the daily achievement tracking feature would be better optional.
Mobile tends to be more accessible and accommodating wide audience.
Almost everyone gain their needed information through Google or Youtube but they have problem with reliability.

Conceptualization
l
Based on the results of user interviews and testing, the list of requirements for this project was formulated, and from there I made multiple lo-fi wireframes. User personas and possible user flows aided with the process of forming a more structured experience.
User Flows
The user flow chart below illustrates the paths users would take to achieve different goals throughout the platform. Mapping out each and every step user would take from entry point to the final destination assisted me systemizing the flows visually and accounting for various factors that can impact the users' interactions.
Sketches
Sketching the initial looks of the leading pages let me not only iterate and explore assorted options efficiently but also apprehend different ideas contemplating the pros and cons of each version.
-
Homepage for each contentHomepage for each content were constructed as to provide more guidance and structure to the use of this platform. Users can obtain more specific results and support through these pages.
-
Managing topicsAs many topics are to be handled throughout this platform, being able to manage and access topics smoothly and effortlessly is crucial. After scrutinizing various methods, I ended up with visual and simplistic design that emphasize the ease of the user experience.
-
Prioritizing informationFor some of the content pages, I thought about what would the best structure be to serve the needs of the users in terms of familiarity and priorities. I analyzed different information that can be placed on the page and tried switching around the order to see how they would look using paper.
Style guide
I created a new style guide that serves better user interaction.
I increased the readability with line spacing and font style and ascended the color contrasts for the button design to more pop.
70:20:10 rule was adopted to put a better emphasis on the brand color.
Texts such as "premium content" was replaced with a more familiar simple lock icon to increase intuitiveness.

Product success & final thoughts
l
The participants were able to navigate through the app with more ease during the user testing of the final version and those who commented that they would utilize the platform if it comes out in the market increased exceedingly. Frequent feedbacks and clear communication were definitely the key building what serves the users the best.
As this was a short term solo project, it was a good opportunity for me to practice to be resourceful of my surroundings and take initiative throughout every step. The compact schedule encouraged me to manage my time better and adjust the planning in accordance with the design process. Overall, it was a good learning experience for me and I'd like to thank Qwoll for making the entire process a pleasure.
